Warehousing & storage

Freight warehousing and storage in Kent, WA.

Pallet space by the day or by the year, container storage in our own yard, and a crew that receives, reworks and ships your freight back out. We dray it in ourselves, so nothing waits on a second vendor.

Interior of a large distribution warehouse

Ad Hoc Logistics runs freight warehousing and storage out of Kent, WA — minutes from the Port of Seattle and the Port of Tacoma. You get warehouse space without signing a lease, a building, or a five-year commitment: tell us how many pallets and for how long, and we price it. Because we also run the drayage and the transload dock, the same company that pulls your container off the terminal is the one that stores the freight and ships it out. One phone number, one invoice, no handoff to lose your pallets in.

What's included

Warehousing services we actually run

On-demand pallet storage

Pay for the pallets you use, for as long as you use them. No lease, no minimum square footage, no penalty when your volume drops after peak.

Container storage

Loaded or empty boxes parked in our own Kent and Tacoma yards between moves — so you are not paying the terminal to hold your container.

Receiving & inventory

We count it in, note damage, photograph exceptions and tell you what landed. You know what is on hand before the invoice arrives.

Value-added handling

Labeling, kitting, shrink-wrap, carton marking, retailer compliance prep and pallet rework before the freight ships.

Outbound distribution

FTL, LTL, box truck and final-mile out of the same building, across WA, OR, ID and MT.

Overflow & seasonal space

Short bursts when your own warehouse is full — August through January, or whenever a vessel lands early.

Contract warehousing without the contract

Most warehouse space in the Kent Valley is leased by the square foot on a multi-year term. That works if your volume is flat. It does not work if you import seasonally, if you are testing a new product line, or if one vessel arrives three weeks before the retailer wants it. On-demand warehousing solves that: you are billed for pallet positions and handling, month to month, and you scale up in October and back down in February without renegotiating anything.

We do both. Some customers keep a standing pallet count with us all year. Others use us for overflow twice a season. Either way, the rate card is the same handful of lines — receiving, storage per pallet per month, outbound handling — and you can read all of it on one page.

Warehouse and distribution in the Kent Valley

Our hub sits in the Kent–Fife–Sumner–Auburn corridor, the largest warehouse and distribution cluster in the Pacific Northwest and one of the largest on the West Coast. That location does two specific things for your freight. A container coming off Husky, WUT, PCT, T18 or T5 reaches our dock in well under an hour, so the box turns and the per-diem clock stops. And an outbound truck leaving our building is on I-5 or SR-167 in five minutes, which is why same-day delivery across the Puget Sound is realistic rather than a promise.

From Kent we distribute across Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. Our own trucks run the Seattle and Tacoma ports daily and reach inland destinations on regular schedules.

Who we store freight for

Importers bringing ocean containers through the Northwest Seaport Alliance terminals. Brands that need product held close to the port and released to retailers on call. Manufacturers staging raw material. Ecommerce sellers who need pick-and-pack fulfillment rather than bulk storage. Apparel programs that need garments on hangers and floor-ready cartons. Food and beverage programs that need dry ambient space in volume.

Freight warehousing FAQ

What does freight warehousing cost?

Three lines, normally: an inbound receiving charge per container or per pallet, a storage rate per pallet position per month, and an outbound handling charge. Value-added work — labeling, restacking, kitting — is quoted separately because it depends entirely on how the freight arrives. Send us the pallet count, the dwell time and what needs doing to the cargo, and you get a real number the same day, not a range.

Do you offer on-demand warehousing with no lease?

Yes. You pay for pallet positions and handling, month to month. There is no square-footage minimum and no multi-year commitment, which is the point — you can take 40 pallets in September and 400 in November.

How short can short-term storage be?

A day. Plenty of freight sits with us for 48 hours between the terminal and the consignee because the receiver could not take it on the original date. That is cheaper than letting the container sit at the port earning demurrage.

Can you store the container itself, not just the freight?

Yes — we have yard space in Kent and Tacoma for loaded and empty containers. It is the standard answer when a box is ready before the consignee is.

Do you receive freight that is not in a container?

Yes. Domestic FTL and LTL, box truck deliveries and rail-ramp freight all come into the same dock.

Can you handle food or beverage products?

Dry ambient, yes — that is a large share of what moves through our building, and beverage in particular moves in the kind of volume we are set up for. We do not operate cold storage or a freezer.

What happens if my freight arrives damaged?

We photograph it at receiving, note it on the receipt and tell you before it goes to a rack. You decide what happens next — hold it for a claim, rework it, or ship it short.

Will the same team handle the drayage?

Yes, and that is the main reason customers consolidate here. We pull the container with our own trucks, devan or store it at our dock, and ship it out. Nobody is waiting on another company's dispatcher.
